On the western banks of the Kootenai River, at Montana's lowest elevation point, sits the City of Troy and its surrounding wilderness and lake areas. Troy offers pristine, unsettled attractions like The Swinging Bridge—only 8 miles west of town—which spans the vast Kootenai River from bank to bank, high above the dark, emerald-green waters below. Ross Creek Cedars, off State Highway 56 and only 29 miles from the heart of Troy, offers 7 miles of trail through an ancient cedar grove that canopies hundreds of feet above. Many groomed snowmobile trails lead to tall mountain ridges that place you in "God's County" with majestic views of snowcapped mountains. Fifteen miles northwest of Troy off State Highway 508 is the raw, untamed and natural Yaak River Falls, which flows over jagged, centuries-old rocks untouched by mankind. Troy is also famous for the annual "Troy’s Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration," which draws crowds of upwards of 6,000 people and is known for its parade, July festivities and live music at the beautiful Roosevelt Park along the banks of the Kootenai River. Troy Museum and Visitor Center offers a bicycle pump track for kids with two “experienced” levels, as well as a nature trail and one of Montana's largest frisbee disk golf (folf) courses, where the Timber Beast tournament is held every year.
