Although he loved this rough and dangerous way of life, Charlie also began honing impressive talents as an artist. He soon began drawing and painting the landscape and people of the region, capturing the lives of the Plains Indians and early explorers on canvas. His work has left a rich legacy for those interested in Montana's early history and Charlie Russell is now regarded as one of the foremost Western artists of his time.
