things to do outdoors
You can enjoy Montana’s great outdoors without worrying about bringing your own gear. From boats, snowmobiles and ATVs to fly rods, tents and skis, our outfitters and outdoor shops are geared up to get you out on your next adventure. These outfitters and shop employees are also a wealth of information—talk to them about where to use your rental gear based on your experience level with that activity. (When in doubt, go with a guide.)
Dive into the season with our exclusive "Spring Seven" list—a treasure trove of must-do experiences that prove spring in Montana is the perfect time to visit.
Please follow Recreate Responsibly, Leave No Trace and Tread Lightly principles while you’re spending time in Montana’s great outdoors. Also, always have the appropriate safety equipment necessary for your activity, e.g., avalanche gear for backcountry skiing. Plan ahead by making sure the place you’re renting gear from has the necessary safety equipment; if not, you’ll need to secure it elsewhere. Also, make sure you know how to use it. If you are renting a motorized or nonmotorized watercraft of any kind, you must stop at all watercraft inspection stations.
Outfitters in Glacier Country provide everything from bike rentals to boat rentals, including camping equipment, backpacking equipment, ATVs, UTVs, snowshoes, pontoon boats, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and more.
