Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana, located at 69316 Highway 93, is two miles south of the junction with Highway 212 (leading to Charlo and the National Bison Range) and is eight miles north of St. Ignatius.The beautiful log-faced building is directly across the highway from the Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge. A gift shop offers a wide selection of items from Montana artisans and craftspeople, plus a large selection of books and other gift items.
Built in 1998, the 11,000 plus square foot museum memorializes the history and culture of the Flathead Indian Reservation and early Montana with four rooms of artifacts, historical photographs, a selection of stunning beadwork, guns, bows and arrows and a diorama room filled with mounted wildlife and an Indian camp circa 1880.
Also on the property is an approximately one-eighth mile long nature trail with a spectacular view of the Mission Mountains. Admission is $9 for adults, $8 for veterans/seniors, $7 for students, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 years of age and no cost for children under 6 when accompanied by an adult. Group rates are also available.
