Where:

Northwest Montana History Museum

Description:

April’s Movie Night to feature Silver Streak

The 1976 film Silver Streak was the first of four films to feature the comedy duo of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. And according to many critics, this film was the best of them. On Tuesday, April 23, movie buffs will be able to once again enjoy this classic thriller comedy which also features Jill Claybugh, Ned Beatty, Patrick McGoohan and Scatman Crothers.
When book editor George Caldwell (Wilder), decides to take the train from Los Angeles to Chicago to attend a wedding, he sees a man being thrown from the train. But when he reports what he has seen, no one believe him. Caldwell quickly finds himself in the middle of an FBI investigation into art thefts and a suspect in the murder that he reported. With plot twists and turns, romance and comedy, the train streaks towards Chicago where a spectacular ending awaits the movie and Caldwell’s trip.
The 1976 film grossed more than $51 million and was generally praised by critics, in spite of a fairly convoluted plot and the fact that Pryor does not appear until midway through the film.
Doors open at 6:30 pm. Admission and popcorn are free, but donations are gladly accepted to help defray the costs of Movie Night. Soda pop, water, beer and wine are available for purchase. Seating is provided, but viewers are welcome to bring their own cushions or seating.
Marking its 25th anniversary, the Northwest Montana History Museum brings the past alive through exhibits, artifacts, educational programs and events. Regular museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 124 Second Avenue East, Kalispell. For information call 406-756-8381.
