Ranging in length from 27 to 37 inches with a wingspan of 5.5 to 8 feet, bald eagles are second in size of American birds of prey. Living in Montana year-round, bald eagles regularly inhabit wetlands, open water areas, major waterbodies and spring spawning streams, with nesting-site selection dependent upon local food availability.
